VREDENBURG LAB
Welcome!
Welkom! Bienvenido! 歡迎! Bienvenue! स्वागत हे!
Research in the Vredenburg lab focuses broadly on ecology, evolution and conservation. Most projects focus on amphibians, but we also study avian behavior and ecology. We incorporate elements of population, community, and behavioral ecology to investigate the impacts of emerging infectious disease, introduced predators, and habitat destruction on native species; using a combination of field and lab based experiments. We often use specimens from natural history collections (e.g. Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, UC Berkeley) to give us historical perspective .

Amphibians are the most threatened major group of vertebrates. In 1998, Vredenburg co-founded (with Dr. David Wake) AmphibiaWeb.org, a bioinformatics source for all of the world's living amphibians. AmphibiaWeb provides a web page for all known species: users can obtain conservation status, ecological and distributional data, photographs, taxonomic information, and more. AmphibiaWeb.org, with over 7.5 million successful queries per year, is the world's resource for amphibian biology and conservation.
